So it has been a good week. On Tuesday
we trained the new missionaries and then after around 12 me and elder
page headed out for the mountains. It was super weird and hard saying
bye to my comps in the offices and to President and Sister Nelson. I
even shed some tears and so did Hna. Nelson. I talked to President
last night and he told us how much he missed us and loved us so truly I
feel blessed to have been able to have that opportunity.
Zacatlan
is flat out beautiful. It reminds me alot of Tlachichuca (my first
area) but a lot more beautiful and the people aren't as poor. Our area is
flat out huge and we have tons of little tons and i just have no clue
where were at but good thing my comp knows the area a little bit. The
funniest thing about this area is that no body has DIRECTIONS haha it
is honestly frustrating. When we contact we always get them to give us
there directions but there usually something like this...I live by the
bridge in a cement house with a apple tree. So its been pretty fun and
adventurous trying to find directions, I think we have found like 1 this
whole week so now we are changing our strategy to try contacting people
when they are outside there house. We had about 50 come to church
yesterday and only had 5 priesthood holders and a whole bunch of
sisters. Its pretty fun though and im loving it so far!
The
weather here is nuts. It can be so hot and then it just rains and rains
and rains. On Thursday it rained the whole entire day and never
stopped. Its pretty unpredictable and Ive learned just to always take my jacket everywhere.
My new comp. is actually
from Ecuador and isn't from Bolivia haha. He has 4 months in the mission
and is a good guy and likes to work but needs to learn quite a bit. I'm
getting to use my gift of patience with him. It is super weird going
from E. Evans and Page back to just a normal missionary but im excited
and I know we will both learn a lot from each other. He loves cleaning the
house though so that is just sweet.
Our area doesn't have much going right now so we have been focusing on finding and
finding this week. We actually have 2 baptism dates for the 26th and
there names are Vanessa and Martha. They live out in the middle of
nowhere and are pretty sweet but this week there father came home from
being gone for a long time and he has no clue that they are listening.
So we tried going over and faking like it was the first time we had ever
been there but he just stayed inside and wouldn't come out. I think were
just going to have to be very direct with them and tell them they just
need to tell him and there desires and God will soften his heart. Keep
them in their prayers.
The best thing about
this area is about a month ago President established a group of Zacatlan
out in a little town 5 hours away. There are just 2 members there but
the member there is so excited and is bringing about 8 non members to
his house for church each week. It is an absolute gold mine and the
Elders never did anything with it. So this week that has been my
priority, President doesn't want us going out there cause its so far and a
little dangerous but we can do Skype. SO this week we have gotten Skype
all worked out and it was interesting because they don't even have
cellphone service out there. But we finally were able to work it out and
the member is going to invite everyone he can on Tuesday and we will be
teaching the first lesson. Technology is truly a blessing and i am
super stoked.
That's about it family. Its been a
very weird change this past week and it is weird just having my area
and nothing else. I am so grateful for the time I got to spent with
President and to be able to end my last 12 weeks here and I hope to end
strong. Ive put some good goals and hope to achieve them. Something that
P. Christensen told us is that we end our mission strong we will start
strong at home and if we end weak we will start home life weak. I will
end strong. Love you guys so much and have fun in Costa Rica.
