So first off, about our 2 fechas that we HAD for the 26th of March
are no more. So I think I told you guys a little about them the last
time and that we were trying to get the permission of their
grandpa/husband. So we have been searching and searching for him to
talk to him and this past Thursday we finally was outside his house
fixing up a 4 wheeler. So we presented ourselves and asked if we could
help him and he was just a ding dong the whole time. So we finally got
him to calm down and shared a message with him about the restoration and
our message as missionaries. He showed absolute no interest and we
told him that we knew that he didn't care very much and was just fine in
the catholic church but we told him very directly that Vanessa and his
wife had received an answer that this was true and that they needed to
join this church. We then asked him if he would give him permission and
he said. No, im the boss of this house and if I'm catholic my whole family
will be catholic. At that moment I wanted to poke him in the eyes but
decided not to. Its exactly what Satan wanted to do, take away the
precious gift of agency that God has given him. Vanessa got there at the
end the lesson and was in tears when she heard him say that. Keep them
in your prayers. We dont know really what else we can do besides kidnap the guy and ship him to china of something.
So
there is a family that got baptized a few months ago and they are just
sweet. And this past week the daughter of the mom had lived all her life
with her Grandma in Mexico City but because of the change that the
grandma saw in her daughter after her baptism she gave custody to her to
have her daughter again. So her name is Valeria and is 16 years old and
is just sweet. We visited her for the first time and put a date for the
20th of April. It will be a pretty sure baptism we think. They all came to church and she is even signed up for EFY!
So
the best thing of the week...So we have been using skype to talk to our
people 5 hours away and it has worked alright. The President of the
branch here has to go up there once a month to check up on them so of
course we went with them. And that's totally fine with P. Nelson so Dad don't ya worry. But anyway we left at about 5 30 in the morning so we
could get there at 10. Besides the baptisms it was the coolest and most
spiritual experience that I have had in my mission. The group leader out
there is a guy named Delfino and him and his wife are the only members.
This town was like going back in time 100 years ago and the people are
very poor and lots don't speak Spanish and speak a native language called
nauhat. It is also one of the most beautiful places that I have ever
seen. They have there services in there house. They are 2 of the best
members I have ever seen and are preaching to everyone. So 7 Inv. showed
up to the services. Me and my comp and President of the branch gave the
talks in the sacrament and the second hour we taught lesson 1 to
everyone and put 5 baptisms dates in that same lesson for the 9th of April.
The other two didn't accept because they had no clue what was going on because they don't speak Spanish but the feel the spirit and keep coming
back. It was a great experience and I will never forget it. The people
there cant read and dont know very much but know that they feel
something. After the services the wife of Delfino had made lunch for
everyone over a fire and we all ate!
This past
week one of the worst windstorms and rain have hit Zacatlat. We have
been without and with phone service and light for the whole week. Lots
of housed got there roofs taken off so we have don't lots of service.
That's
about it family. I'm getting along better with my Comp. Hes a good guy
and truly has a good heart. Mom and Dad, sounds like your having fun in
Puerto Rico, bring me back some sand. I'm so grateful to be a missionary
and to be having the opportunities that I am having. Love you all!
