So it was a pretty
calm week here which was super sweet, we only did 2 divisions and
actually had a lot of time to work in our area. Alfa (our area) is doing
pretty good right now i must say so myself haha. We are pulling numbers
that I've never even been close to pulling before in my mission. I think
we have finally been getting it in our area and know how to be effective
missionaries. I wish I started my mission with the knowledge that I
have now about how to be a good and effective missionary but am grateful
for the journey that its been to get to this point.
So
just to start off with some news. So the update on Victor Leon is
that he has been still out of town and we haven't really seen him, we
don't know if he is hiding from us hahaha his family is so catholic and
just doesn't want him to have to do anything with our church.
We
have made progress with Luis ( the 19 year old). Who has had baptism
dates off and on) We finally found him again and he has a date for the 17 of January.
It was pretty cool because his family invited us over for New Years Day
breakfast and just told us how much they appreciated what we have been
doing with their son. Its interesting because they really want nothing
to do with us but really want there son to have lots to do with us. Hopefully everything can go smooth and he can get baptized.
We
found a sweet new family of Inv. And one of the 32 year old sons is
called Daniel and he is blind so we teach the family and write on a
piece of paper to teach Daniel. It's very neat and a very special
situation. The family could not come to church with us because they were working but they were all for Daniel coming to church with us. So we
passed by him yesterday and walked with him and his 9 year old nephew to
the church. Its amazing cause he couldn't do anything but he absolutely
loved it and was super happy.
Maria Eleyna ( I
don't know if I told you about her) but she has about two months being
taught and 4 assistences in the church. She has a date for the 16 of January.
We passed by her yesterday and she was not in her house so wer were
kinda sad and then went to church and saw her sitting in the front row
hahaha so we were super happy and she is super sweet but told us she
drank a little on new years. so we will have to talk about the word of
wisdom with her.
Marsela ( the daughter of
Celsy) is doing great. She has been on vacation this week so we have
been able to teach her every single day. She is training to be a police
officer so is out of town all week and is only here on the weekends so
it was good because we were able to teach the first 3 lessons this week.
It's amazing because when we were teaching Celsy and Carlos and Liam she
didn't really want anything do do with us and we just kept on inviting
her. But know I know she has seen the change in the 3 of them and the
new light that they have and she wants it to. She has a date for the 30th of January.
Celsy fed us on New Years day and just gave us an absolute feast of sea
food. It was probably the best meal that i have had with a member here
and she was just so excited. I wish all the members were as excited to
feed us as the recent converts were haha.
So
we ended the month of December and we have been working so hard to try
to change the culture of this mission and to get the mindset in our
missionaries that in this mission we BAPTIZE!!! We put the goal of 100
baptisms, something that we have never even come close to achieving
before in the mission and have worked so hard and we fell us short by
quite a bit. We got kinda sad because we wanted it so bad and felt like
that we have done absolutely everything that we could but in the end
everybody and every missionary has the agency and can really decide. We
just keep finding obedience problems, for example this week some ZL went on a surprise visit (something the whole mission is now doing) to a
companionship and found them dead asleep at 9 am. Found a bunch of fireworks and worldly movies in their house and a few
other things. We have to clear out the inner vessel like Moroni says
(the missionaries) and have to get everybody on the same page and
working together and being obedient and then we will receive the
miracles that we have been working for. We cant get to down though because we actually had more baptisms this December than the last December with 60 less missionaries.
That's
about it Family. I love you guys so much and I'm so grateful to have two
years to mold myself into being a disciple of the Lord.
