Another great and tiring week here in
Puebla Mexico. I'm going to try writing even better letters now because
life has just changed so much and since being an assistant I never have
any time to write in my journal but before this time wrote everyday so that's an achievement right there.
So, I'm pretty sure I've never been so tired before in my life, This week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
we had all day zone conferences with the Zones, I got to eat pretty
good this week lets just say. We talked a lot about a new teaching method
that we are going to try to start using here in the mission because
everybody is just teaching so complicated and were just confusing the
heck out of everyone haha. We also talked a lot about what we have seen
in our surprise visits and our progress on the culture change of the
mission. At the end of the conference, President always shares
something to leave us on a spiritual note and he said one thing that
really stood out to me. He said that when E. Valenzuela came he shook
each one of our hands and the purpose of that was to be able to look
into our eyes and to see who has the light and who doesn't. Then he
actually came to President afterward and told him the missionaries who didn't have the light in there eyes and that he needed to talk to them .I
liked that a lot and hope I have that light in me. Also, one of the
traditions of the mission was that in Zone Conferences the last like
hour the missionaries who were leaving got to bear there testimonies, we
decided to change this and to eliminate this from now on and not everyone
was super happy about that, but President spoke about it and the reason
we did it. We have two years to leave our testimony here, it doesn't
matter what we say in a zone conference, it matters what we left here
and what people are going to say about us in ten years.
On Friday
we had all day changes meeting which I was super excited to do. We went
to President's house and he has a huge whiteboard with everyone's photo
and where they're at and a little bit of information and then we pray, ask
for the spirit and revelation and then just start working and doing the
best we can. Wow, it is crazy though, we all stared at that board for
like 10 hours haha. But we always talk about the new assistant first
(President has loved the 3 assistants so were going to call another one
too) Then you go to Zone leaders, Trainers, District Leaders and the
rest. Really, you just have to do your best and then we have 5 days
between that change and the final change on Wednesday
just to think about everything and to really receive guidance and
direction for the things that we need to change! Needless to say, it was
a very cool experience to be a part of and really I know the President
has keys to receive revelation and to direct this mission.
We
got done with changes at about 5 and then the Secretaries came over and
we had a huge thanksgiving meal just like home. Honestly it was so
great, Ham, Turkey, Pies, Potatoes, Stuffing, Rolls sparkling cider and
on and on. It was honestly great and President can cook pretty dang
good. He was super glad to have us over because actually Hma. Nelson has
had to go to the states the last couple weeks for some surgery but the
mission doesn't know that, just us. So he was kinda lonely and loved
having us and even invited us to stay the night which we gladly accepted.
I love the mission house and sleeping in sweet beds and having sweet
showers and raiding the kitchen. The assistant life is very tiring but
it is very rewarding.
We didn't have much time to work this week but we had 4 investigators come to church and this Saturday
is the baptism of Celsy and Carllos and Liam. I'm so excited, they are
such a great family and even Clesys daughter came to church yesterday.
It should be a special day on Saturday, Pray for them that everything can work out good.
So
we finished up the month of November yesterday and we stayed at the
same percentage of baptism as we always have in the mission, around 50
but we are stoked because besides the baptisms we have made such a jump
in numbers like New Investigators and Dates and Lessons, we have seen
numbers that this mission has never seen before this last month so we
are feeling great and hope this next month that we can increase in
baptisms. Yesterday we were in the offices super late with President
doing some planning and he just expressed to us how grateful he was for
us and how much he depends on us so that was sooo sweet and very
touching.
Tha'ts about it family, Life is so great and Hope to leave it all here and change lives. Love you guys all!!!
