Done with week two. I am glad to say that it was actually quite a
bit better htan wek one. Not going to lie but I didn't really like the
first week here haha. So after last P day I just studied and studied
cause I wasn't really having a good time and I remembered Hanke always
saying that the only things we can control is our attitude and our
effort so that is what I focused on this week and I think I did a pretty
good job at it. I can honestly say I've had a good attitude this whole
week even this morning when I had to wake up at 5 am
to go help the sisters missionaries move to another apartment, which I
have no clue why they were moving because their apartment is twice as
nice as ours but then I saw the apartment they were moving into and it
was 4 times as nice as ours so I guess that's why ha.
Me and my comp have
been working super hard, he says this is the hardest he has worked his
whole mission. I just wish we had a car, we honestly walk so much, on
average its prob like 25 min from one house to the other and lots of
time our investigators aren't even their. Nobody has phones down here so
its impossible to contact them beforehand to see if they are home. But
its all good, and I'm glad I have good shoes. The Spanish is still pretty
bad and I have no clue what they are saying but don't think that stopped
me from bearing my testimony yesterday haha. We can't drink a drop of water here but good thing i have my filtered water bottle.
The few members in our branch our aweome. They have to feed us
tons. We have already eaten with one single family for four lunches
already. Antonio is probably like 30 with a family and after work
probably like four days a week he comes teaching with us, hes a stud.
Investigators...
Julia is one of our investigators, i
think shes about 50 years old and owns a Little store. So we always just
go to the back of the store on her bed to teach her. She has been
getting taught by the missionaries for ever and is ready to get baptized
but she needs married. Nobody is married down here. haha
Fernando is a less active and has three kids that
have not gotten baptized. but their extendend family is all really
catholic and does not support if they were to get baptized. In the área
that were at everyone is really reallly strong catholics.
Clemente is pretty much a guaranteed baptism. She
wants it really bad and now we are just waiting for i think divorce
papers of something from her last marriage before she can get baptized.
Laura is an investigator we found while I've been here. We've taught her three times and she seems like shes doing well. Were
going to try setting up a date this week which would be really awesome
because this área that im in has not had a baptism in over a year which
is pretty crazy.
Some funny stories for the week.
We live right by
some huge volcanoes so this week I experienced my first earthquake which
was crazy. At like five in the morning everything just started shaking I
have to admit it was kinda cool.
So everyday we have to ride this like big van thing thirty minutes
to our area and they pack in as many people possible. I was standing and
there was this grandma sitting by me with a big old flower. Needless to
say when I was getting out, my bag got caught on her flower and snapped it
right in half haha. Good thing i know how to say I'm sorry in Spanish.
Every night the last Little van leaves our área at like 7.30 at
night so we have to be there by that time. Another thing I have learned
is that latino woman love to talk and they can talk forever, I have no
clue what their saying. Needless to say we have missied the van already
like three times and have to get some of our members to take us home.
Like ten minutes of driving we realize were out of gas and we ended up
pushing for like fifteen minutes but then the pólice came and towed us to
safety. Mexicans never have gas in their car for some reason ha ha, it's
way funny and dads old f 150 is like the prime car down here.
I finally
ate my first bad food here which I really had a hard time eating it, it
was some kind of weird vegetables. Mom I finally got to use some of my
pills you sent me with ha.
I think that's all for this week. Hopefully all is
well and the sheep do awesome this week. I love you guys and this is the
true church. Dad you need to make the priests teach eight year olds
like I use to do. I know I hated it but it would really help them. Mom i
have found milk but its not american milk, it tastes nasty and i cant
drink it, only on like cereal. I still can't ge the pictures to work, so I
think you guys will have to wait until I get an american comp to help
me. I love you guys and your the best family ever.
